App Development (9th Grade)

This year at school, we got to develop apps. I was a part of two app development teams. I first was a part of an app called Magic Math. Magic Math was an app that was created to help students with their math. Magic Math included math formulas and math tutorials to help students understand math. After we presented to the "sharks" for the first time, Magic Math did not make it through to the final seven apps. After Magic Math got eliminated, I joined an app called Manage Your Money. Manage Your Money was an app created to help people better understand financial terms. It was also created to help people budget and save money. Manage Your Money was a final seven app, but it did not win. App development was something awesome we got to do this year!

What did I do for these apps?

For Magic Math, I did all of the formulas pages. I also did some about the subject pages. I did the copyright page and some of the graphics. These are just some of the things I did for Magic Math.

For Manage Your Money, since I joined late, I did less on Manage Your Money than what I did for Magic Math. On Manage Your Money, I created 3 pages and corrected grammatical mistakes for the app. I also alpha tested the app a numerous amount of times. I enjoyed working on the Manage Your Money team. I would also do anything they told me to do on Trello. These are just some of the things I did for Manage Your Money.

App Development (10th)

This year, we did app development again. It was a different experience this time since we worked with other schools. I signed up to make an app about poverty called Overty, which placed third in the whole program. After filling out a wiki page, more and more people joined my team. I had students from 2 other schools besides mine on my app team. Our team totaled about 19 people.

I was voted PM of our team, so I had a great responsibility. I had to make sure everyone knew what they were supposed to do and that we completed our assignments before the deadlines. I created various pages in the app ranging from the home screen, to pictures, statistics, and quotes.

I liked the app development project as it taught me many skills; two being: how to manage a team and how to communicate with others on a team you can not meet in person.
